Join the Navy SEAL Museum November 1 and 2 for our 39th Annual Muster. This year we recognize and honor the strategic partners who enable SEALs to complete their missions effectively. Historically, these groups have played an imperative role in the success of many missions SEALs have executed-and they continue to do so today.

Read more about these strategic partners below, and join us for a celebratory weekend honoring the service of our military.

The 39th Annual Muster and Music Festival
Strategic Partners
Strengthening SEAL Operations Since 1962

Navy SEALs are a maritime-focused, multi-purpose combat force, named for the elements in which they operate: Sea, Air, Land. Well-rounded in their training, these elite warfighters are notably assigned the most difficult missions, including special reconnaissance, unconventional warfare, information warfare, security assistance, foreign internal defense, counterterrorism, direct action, hostage rescue, and personnel recovery.

Some SEAL delivery methods include SEAL Delivery Vehicles (SDVs), Navy surface ships, Special Warfare Combatant Craft, Diver Propulsion Devices, airborne insertion via fixed and rotary-winged aircraft, and tactical ground mobility vehicles.

Due to the complex nature of their work, the varied environments in which they operate, and the extensive tasks to which they are called, Navy SEALs require extensive support teams. This year’s Muster honors these strategic partners / force multipliers who ensure SEALs can complete the mission.

Strategic Partners:

Beginning in the Vietnam War, Navy SEALs relied heavily on additional units:

HC-1 squadrons, Helicopter Attack Squadron (Light) THREE, HA(L)-3, nicknamed “Seawolves.” These volunteer Naval Aviators were officially established at Vũng Tàu, South Vietnam in April 1967.

U.S. Navy riverine forces supported SEALs with the “patrol boat: riverine,” or Navy PBR, was the first watercraft built for the so-called brown water navy in Vietnam.

U.S. Navy Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewmen (SWCC) NSW personnel who operate and maintain small craft for special operations missions, particularly those of U.S. Navy SEALs.

U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)

EOD Technicians train, prepare, and deploy to handle dangerous explosives and explosive devices. They “render safe” all types of ordnance, including improvised, chemical, biological, and nuclear.

TF-160 Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) Night Stalkers provides aviation support for Special Operation Forces through airborne attack, assault, and reconnaissance, usually conducted at night and with short notice.

U.S. Air Force Pararescuemen (PJ) Pararescue elements form an integral component of a Special Operations Task Force and integrate easily with Navy SEAL Teams or Army Special Forces detachments.

U.S. Air Force Combat Control Teams (CCT) Combat Controllers are often assigned individually or as small teams to Navy SEAL teams and Army Special Forces. Combat Controllers are FAA certified air traffic controllers.

Other Government Agencies (OGA) Provide invaluable support as strategic partners for Navy SEALs to accomplish their missions and have worked closely with the SEAL Teams from the beginning to combat communism and terrorism.

SEALs rely not only on each other, but also on a host of military specialists for critical support in carrying out their missions on the sea, in the air, and on land. Here are a few of these specialists.

Navy Diver (ND), Cryptologic Technician (CT), Intelligence Specialist (IS), Information Systems Technician (IT), Parachute Rigger (PR), Hospital Corpsman (HM), Special Operations Aerial Delivery Element (SOADE).

The Navy SEAL Museum is committed to preserving the history and heritage of Navy SEALs and their predecessors. Their story cannot be told, however, without appropriate acknowledgement of the Strategic Partners that lent to their successes–and those that continue to do so today.

You, our dedicated patrons and generous donors, also serve as Force Multipliers, enabling the Museum to execute our mission. Your teamwork is appreciated, and your support is invaluable.

Keynote Speaker

Captain (SEAL) Rick Woolard, USN (Ret.)

Rick Woolard

Captain (SEAL) USN (Ret.)

The Navy SEAL Museum is honored to announce Captain (SEAL) Rick Woolard, USN (Ret.) as the keynote speaker for the 39th Annual Muster and Music Festival.

Rick Woolard was born in Austin, TX, raised in Nyack, NY, and is a graduate of Colgate University and the Naval War College. He completed SEAL, Airborne, and Ranger Training, then led over 100 combat missions in Vietnam in the 1960s.

During his 30-year Navy career, he commanded SEAL Teams TWO, SIX, and the Naval Special Warfare Development Group. He also served with the British Special Boat Service, US Forces Caribbean, and as Director of Combating Terrorism in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

He is credited for driving the initial development of SEAL Combat Swimmer, Sniper, and Winter Warfare capabilities.

His military decorations include the Silver Star, Defense Superior Service Medal, and Legion of Merit; also, the Bronze Star with Combat Device and the Purple Heart (three each).

After retiring from active duty in 1996, he enjoyed an interesting and varied private sector career and served as President of the Special Operations Fund, which helps widows and children of men of the national Special Mission Units.

Rick’s SEAL experiences appear in several books and documentaries. The 2017 film Minh: A Bond Unbroken tells how he and his Teammates found and rescued their Vietnamese combat interpreter 40 years after the war.

He spearheaded the construction of the nation’s only Navy SEAL Monument (on the Virginia Beach boardwalk) and the Naval Combat Demolition Units/ Scouts and Raiders Monument on Omaha Beach, Normandy. He currently is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum.

Rick has been married to the former Sandra Wright since 1969. They have a daughter, a son (a SEAL with 11 combat deployments) and three grandsons, and live in Virginia Beach and Hutchinson Island, Florida.

—————
In addition to Captain Woolard’s keynote, the event will feature special guest speakers Seawolf LCDR Jim Fuller (Ret.) and Flight Lead Task Force 160 Night Stalker WO4 Bruno Fallon (Ret.), both of whom bring remarkable experiences and insights from their respective roles in elite military operations.

LCDR Fuller, a retired Navy Seawolf, was pivotal in leading combat missions in Vietnam as part of the Navy’s volunteer helicopter attack squadron. His expertise in rotary-wing combat operations and his devotion to supporting SEAL Teams in combat will bring a unique perspective to the event.

WO4 Fallon, a retired Army Nightstalker, served as a flight lead in Task Force 160, specializing in Special Operations aviation. His career includes some of the most high-profile and high-risk missions in modern military history. As a Nightstalker, WO4 Fallon supported Joint Special Operations Teams, including Navy SEALs, with precision aviation.
