CS1 Patrick was killed during the landing of SEAL Detachment Golf when a violent explosion, believed to have been caused by a mine or 40mm grenade, broke the darkened silence. The explosion occurred next to the post bow of the LCPL. CS1 Donnie L. Patrick was killed by the detonation.
