Richard Marcinko, founder of the US Navy’s elite counter-terrorism unit “SEAL Team 6”, and author of the bestselling “Rogue Warrior” series, will also be in attendance. Navy SEAL Museum Gets National Dedication
Congressman Tim Mahoney Rep. (FL-16) presented the National Navy SEAL Museum with the official legislation designating the Museum as the Official Museum of the US Navy SEALs and their predecessors. Mike Howard, Executive Director of the Museum, accepted the award on behalf of the Museum and its Board of Directors. Along with the framed copy of the legislation, signed by the President and the chair of both Houses of Congress, was the official pen used to sign the bill into law. Read More

June 29, 2006 - Comforted by her friend with a caress on the shoulder, a red-haired woman wiped away tears as a bell tolled 11 times: once for each of the Navy SEALs who died a year ago. More than 300 sailors, veterans and family members gathered yesterday at the Naval Amphibious Base in Coronado to dedicate a memorial plaque and a tree to the 11 SEALs killed June 28, 2005, on a combat mission in Afghanistan. (NNS) -- Three NASCAR drivers and their support staff visited the men and women of Naval Special Warfare (NSW) April 19 to learn more about Navy SEALs (Sea, Air, Land) and Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC). Dale Earnhardt Jr., Shane Huffman, and Mark McFarland toured the San Diego area to promote the Navy's recruiting efforts and show their support of the Navy's elite warriors. Earnhardt owns the Navy's Monte Carlo stock car (#88), which Huffman and McFarland drive. more>

Four decades and a few years ago, James Watson was a member of the original Navy SEALs, a special forces branch created by order of President John F. Kennedy. Watson would go on to win four Bronze Stars fighting in Vietnam, where he caught shrapnel in his arm, shoulder and legs from an exploding mine. He retired from the service in 1974 as a chief petty officer. Read More
